This story is based upon the nursery rhyme
called, 'For Want of a Nail.

In a kingdom called Vividale, long ago, lived a loyal knight, Sir Andrew, Famed for turning the tide in battles, and none of the tales were untrue! Intelligent and a natural leader, Sir Andrew's fast horse was called Fury. Together, they were an incredible duo, like whipped cream, with a cherry. The king was very pleased, since the kingdom remained happy and free; And Andrew was often present at court, like breezes, telling flower stories. Fast-paced friends made life fun for Andrew, and fashionable wife, Fern; While calling in howling, dog days of summer, when a fixated sun burned. Fact-finding family came from afar, in a fever to find all happy and well; When fickle weather was forever varying, like sudden, scarlet, hot spells. They lived in the house of the gentry, for whom redbirds performed free, 'Ere the moon offered creamy pearls, while the maroon sun, left by sea. Rampant, red roses had a rage to live, in a rapture of springtime revival, On their road of random prettiness, and burgundy sunrises, without rival. Feather-like, noiseless, palm fronds waved, like a national flag of nature; In days of new-fashioned, neighborly visits, eagerly awaited and major! 'Ruby glow' flowers flashed fire, when 'parrot tulips' wore pretty feathers; In the summer of 'sweet memory circuma,' and 'Arizona sun' pleasures. 'Aphrodite sweetshrub' fell in love, as centennial bush lauded 100 blooms; And purple crystal tulips shattered and glittered, scattering fine perfumes. There had been much talk of war lately, like teal skies, grumbling thunder; And Sir Andrew again prepared for battle, to avoid any deaths, or plunder. On the day of battle, Andrew shoed Fury himself, but, a nail was omitted; And miles from home, the shoe fell off, as did Sir Andrew, lying so rigid! When Andrew regained consciousness, the furious battle was already lost, As well as the mighty kingdom. He vowed to regain it, whatever the cost. Secretly, under cover of darkness, Sir Andrew rounded up all the fighters, Launching a night raid on drunken victors. Legend recalls midnight riders! The kingdom of Vividale was recaptured, and it gained various, new colors; And its worthy king kept his rule, as star studded nights, unlike any others! 'For want of a nail the shoe was lost For want of a shoe the horse was lost For want of a horse the rider was lost For want of a rider the battle was lost For want of a battle the kingdom was lost And all for the want of a horseshoe nail'

I guess he learned quickly from his mistakes. Better that than sulking. Nothing worse than a wimpy pouty prince I always say. Good one Evelyn!
