'n Hart Van Goud

Bo by Liewe Jesus
Maar bly steeds hier by ons in gees

‘n Man met ‘n hart van goud
Wie slegs goeie dinge oor mense kon sê

*Dear PoetrySoup Members. I apologise to those of you who does not understand Afrikaans, but this poem is dedicated to a dear friend of mine who is Afrikaans. She told me a little bit about her father who recently passed on and I decided to put it together in a poem for her. I hope you guys do not mind. TS poetry was an absolute gem and translated what I wrote in my poem in his comment below. Thank you TS Poetry*

A lovely thing to do to comfort a friend...a rough translation...I was asked to say something about Dad But where do I start now When there is really only one thing I want to do now To still fold my arms around Dad But now Dad is gone To a place where Dad wanted to be Above with Dear Jesus But still stay here with us in spirit A man with a heart of gold Who could only say good things about people A supernatural love for us And who only wanted the best for his children Strictly we grew up But it was about Dad loving us And everything I wanted as Dad's daughter Was that I let Dad's heart bounce with pride Now our Dad and Mom's buddy is gone We promise to support each other And to hold on to the memories of a very special man What God could only lend to us A man with a heart of gold This is how I will always remember Dad And now it's time to say goodbye Even though I wish I could still wrap my arms around Dad

Oh wow TS... How absolutely thoughtful of you. Thank you so so much for going through the effort of translating my poem and allowing everyone to understand what I wrote. It is spot on. Only the part where you said WHAT God could only lend to us needs to be THAT God could only lend to us. I appreciate it so much and you did an amazing job at it. Biggest hugs 'B' wow wow wow....

*smile* I bet it was rather interesting... Thank you Richard for at least trying to read it. I tend to do that too when I do not understand a certain language and trying to pronounce words I have no clue about. *laughing* Interesting indeed. TS Poetry was an absolute gem and translated what I wrote in the poem in his comment... Please do read it? Hugs 'B'
