Notes About The Poem

WRITTEN HAVING READ THE WINNING POEMS IN JERRY'S 'THE CONTEST' CONTEST

I HAVE SOMETIMES HAD 'GLOWING' COMMENTS FROM A SPONSOR YET WHEN THE POEM IS PLACED IN THEIR CONTEST GET N/A!

N a Contests

You LOVE my poem (or you say) Your glowing comment really made my day I simply smile and am floating on air Sit down contentedly writing at my chair Enter a contest and wait… The contest is judged - I await my fate …. Sweet N/A 10th January 2015

not that I really don't care though about the N/As specially when I have so much comments underneath my poem.. but anyhow I don't deal to them much longer.. :)! Anyhow that sponsor anyway tickled my brain and made my nerve endings think.. Brain bends and stretches,, :D:D!olive eloisa

yes I agree it stretches my brain which is why i write its just the disparity sometimes between a comment made full of praise and then the N/A my brain find that hard to equate sometimes lol - never mind as long as I get people reading it I am happy:-) Hugs Jan x

At the end of the day you know the people who's comments are actually what they think of your work not pretence, all else is meaningless. Love Shane xxx

Shane never a truer word spoken - I take some comments with a pinch of salt some people merely giving lip service - I comment of far far fewer poems than i actually read in a day - if it doesn't make me smile or touch me in some way or I simply don't understand it I wont comment:-) hugs jan xx

OK, I was going to write something very witty and uplifting but to tell you the truth -- this just plain sucks . . . can you write that -- OK, I may be in trouble. Keep writing girlfriend no matter what . . .

LOl David - your poems never 'suck' i will continue to be more selective which contests I enter:-) Hugs Jan xx

hey jan! believe it or not, i have never looked up my contest entries until reading this poem and now i can see that most of my n/a's have come from the same person. i've really slacked off on entering contests but now i see that i should just avoid entering those run by people who obviously don't like my style of writing. thanks for the insight! great poem!

Same here Ilene -surely not ALL of the poems we write can be that bad that they don't even merit the dreaded HM - at leat with N/A only we see it unless of course people remeber out 'not worthy' poem and leave a comment again lol lol :-)Shame all contests are not judged impartially - I will say no more lol :-) Hugs Jan xxx

So true Jan....I try not to worry about it...The contests do expand our writing and introduce us to forms and themes we wouldn't have thought about before....hugs Tim

I agree Tim but when a sponsor comments enthusiastically on your poem and you enter it for a contest at a later date and it doesn't place it gives food for thought! Hugs Jan xx

G'day Jan... I think you wrote the story of my life... still, I'm here, and like you I write my thoughts and let the readers be the judge. Thank you Jan. Lindsay

Exactly Lindsay I am just so blessed I discovered writing poetry just about 11 months ago and wow how my life has changed so I am a winner no matter how many N/A's I get:-) Hugs Jan xx

We all feel that way from time to time..No one is going to place in every contest ...I try to rest from the contest every once in awhile to let my brain clear..Thanks for stopping by..Glad that you got a smile from those magical butterbeans..Sara

I know what you mean Jan. But then I reason that the sponsor just does not like my style. Since I've been on Soup 8/10 of my N/As have been assigned to me by the same sponsor (never once managed to make it to his/her winners' list!!)...does that make me a hopeless case?!!:) hugs // paul

Glad you can relate to what I say Paul. Now I am more selective about the contests I enter - once I get to a certain number of N/A's I simply don't bother entering that particular sponsors contests Paul yet I may still write and not submit it:-) Hugs Jan xxx

only solace Jan is there are so many of us who have shared this unexplained event. Think of yourself a valued member of an elite N/A society not an outcast, lol.

Just a tongue in check write Robert I have my fair share of N/A's lol. I am happy to join the society with you my friend:-) Hugs Jan xx

Can it be that the writing they see is better than thee, that doubts me, overly. But all we can tell, if it isn't so swell, but we will never rebel. Never lower yourself, below a Dachshunds Balls, for all we do, is let ourself fall. For we will be better, to write and forget, and never allow us to be upset. So what can I say to their S.F.A. - Jan, you'll have your day, let your writing say :) HUGS - a daft Highlander who loves your poetry - :) xx
