My Would Be Last Tears

With God wiping all tears* away In the new heaven and new earth Where He assured me to abide… I long for that day with faith’s sight. In the “no more crying” haven My Saviour first would cheer me up To dry my joy-filled worship tears Exposing grateful countenance. My celestial tears so worthy Would greatly shout triumphant praise Awed at the Lord’s marvelous love So wondrously invaluable. I like my tears to delight God Catching His holy attention Moving His hand to touch my face Granting supreme approval’s stamp. May my tears be pure and earnest Showing guilt-free, peaceful conscience Cleansed by Christ’s perfect sacrifice Bearing mercy-pardon’s favor. Devoid of hypocrisy’s trace My final tears would defy pride Shut up self-pity’s screams and woes To exalt my Master and King. While I then wait for my Father To wipe all my last precious tears I ought now to weep for my sins With unbeliefs that displease Him.
*Revelation 21:4 “…God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes…” February 6, 2019 Honorable Mention, "YOUR CHOICE (7),any form, any theme" Poetry Contest Sponsored by Brian Strand; judged on 6/12/2019.
