My Words

My Words

When pondering on what to say
on what I'm trying to convey
I try to choose so carefully
what I want the world to see.
Sometimes it's hard, as you must know,
to let such deep felt feelings show.

But I'm not always in command
when, my pen, I take in hand.
Sometimes my words just flee from me
in desperation to be free
and when they stand and take a voice,
sometimes they leave me little choice.

I try so hard to shape and hone
these words I dare to call my own
but some things just need to be said
not kept locked up inside my head
(that's when they fill me up with dread,
when they are trapped and can't be said).

So I hope that you will see
in my humble stabs at poetry
my words are searching for an ear
to fall upon, willing to hear.
(On second thought, please pardon me,
they're looking for an eye, to see.)

There's one more thing that I must add,
though much of what I say is sad
my words are used to mitigate,
never, are they used for hate
and there's so much more of me to know
than these little glimpses show.

Beautifully rhymed... a marvelous flow with tender and sensitive word use. You reveal much of yourself here... a most admirable quality. Well done Robin! Best wishes, Keith

Robin, thank you so much for such a lovely comment. I must say this is a well written glimpse into a thoughtful, caring soul and talented writer. Your 'humble stabs at poetry' are quite excellent. So glad you are here. Love, Shar
