My Way
My Way.
Silently floats like a cloud across the sky, as I sleep memories gently rise, tapping like a leaf against the window pane.
Arm in arm along a dimly lit lane we stroll, my name you say like a line from my favourite song, I turn to answer and you are gone.
You went away with no word said, took a piece of me that can never be replaced, in its place a hole never to be filled.
A tear falls in my soul the flicker of words unsaid to an ear no longer near, hangs like a spider’s web glistening with diamonds from morning dew.
Did I do a wrong that you could not stay, was it that painful I had to go without the chance to say sorry?
Was I blind to not see all we built crumble into misery, was I so naïve that it was just make believe, and was I desperate for this love I could not hold?
What’s meant for you will not pass you by I’m told, so goodbye you made my heart cry, but each day I find stronger steps now you’re out of my way.
