My Vanity
I started with a single band
On the ring finger of my left hand.
Over the years I've added more.
I can't resist a jewelry store.
A total of seventeen I now wear
And at my hands, people often stare.
My rings they are my vanity.
My family, they question my sanity.
For every finger and both thumbs as well,
The tale of my vanity tell.
Rubies, saphires and emeralds too,
Diamonds and gold bands, old and new.
I love the way they sparkle and shine
And feel a perverse pleasure that they are mine.
My fingers have run out of room, God knows,
So now I'll just have to start on my toes.
