My Two Little Birds

I had two little birds;
That sang and chirped all day.
They kept me lots of company;
When my sweetie was away.
My darling brought them here to me;
When he came home from sea.
He said they'd help to pass the time away;
Until he came home to stay.
I loved my little birdies dear;
For they filled my heart with cheer.
When I sang a little song;
Their high-pitched warbling sang along.
My sweetheart never made it home;
Which made my poor heart very sad.
But my dear sweet little birds;
Tried to make my sad heart glad.
