My Turquoise Pillow

My Turquoise Pillow Rest my slumber into the night Onto a journey, fraught with no fright Seek to align with allies of good Weary of strangers with tales of delight Take the forked road less traveled and dare To roll with the lovelies, while masking his stare Seek to align with allies of good cheer Avoiding temptations and signs to beware Walk with a vigorous, prosperous pace Thoughtless provoking throughout the race There upon nudge, a thrip to the lobe A seemingly Cheshire-like smile on your face Occasional speech, or by hands be it clear Once if by sea, be it twice if by ear All the while stoic, frozen in time Except for unceasingly relentless bold fear Merrily mingling throughout the days Alone and adrift in a harrowing haze Whirling in contrast and twirling to right Then stretching up to her awesome gaze Storm and lightning clamoring their sound Stinging sheets of windswept drops pound Ducking there for cover, safely to retreat Lurking in the shadows, strangers all around Horses or autos dare to streak about Rattling dead trees leaves. All along the route Seeking safe haven not the terminally ill A secluded retreat awash in a stout Sluggishly slumbering up off the bed Reality returns, its dreamscape is dead Turning acock, o'er shoulder I see A turquoise clad pillow that's rested my head
