My Tribute To a Super Souper

We’ve been asked to choose our favourite poet, that’s such a tough task, and don’t I know it! There’s so much talent in our poetry group, I’ve made many good friends here on soup I have a favorite poet, so when I see her name, I must read her latest, so it’s to her page I aim We often post our poems at a similar time, I comment on hers, she comments on mine! Her rhyming poems flow, with great wit and emotion, I consider her poems to be pure poetry in motion This poem is a tribute to poetess Ilene Bauer, I could sit read her witty poems for many an hour If you’ve not read her work, you should go take a look, she’s a superb wordsmith and should publish a book! Hello Jan … Ilene's poems are typical about life that surrounds her, and yes they are all easy reading rhyming verse. A nice tribute indeed Jan - Lindsay

Thanks for the tip,Jan. You can easily, with limited time, get into the habit of 'going for' the same names but I shall definitely be reading more of Ilene's after this tribute.

I have just commented on your comment on the tribute to Victor,I agree that time is limited and we can't always be as active as we would like but if i could only comment on 5 poems a day i would always head for Ilene's work:-) hugs jan xx

I have enjoyed Ilene's poetry for years now. She is SO good, Jan. You picked a great poet to pay tribute to. For me she is the Erma Bombeck of our POetrysoup group!!

Got to agree she is like Erma Bombeck who wrote with such humour, perhaps that is why I like Ilene's work so much. It was hard to choose a favourite poet but I have loved Ilene's work ever since I joined the site, her work is like a diary and I need to read her daily entry:-) hugs Jan xx

Hi Jan, This is a good poem and tribute. Did you see who she picked? I must say I haven't read her much. But I've seen of the comments she left on several poets poems, and they have always been good and supportive. I aim to visit her page more. I wish you the best of luck in the contest my friend. hey jan! i am blown away by this very touching tribute (and so perfectly rhymed, too!). i just found out about this contest and your name also jumped to the front of my list (if i can return the favor in time). isn't it amazing how we can really feel like friends having never met and with all those miles between us? that's just - poetic!

Oh I agree with all you have said about this lovely lady Jan. Her talent shines in rhyme and she can amaze writing about the most mundain subjects. That takes real talent! She is also great at capturing the heart with touching subjects. It is always a joy to read her work and yours too my friend. This is a beautiful tribute for a beautiful soul! I loved it! Ilene never ceases to amaze me with her tales of life in NY and when she travels, she has a real gift and i love her poetry so much. I would love to meet her one day along with many friends i now have in the US:-) hugs jan xx

She is an amazing poet I just love reading of every day things she has the knack of making something quite ordinary like doing the washing into something quite extraordinary and I adore reading about the fun she has with her grandchildren:-) hugs Jan xx
