My Tree

A hobbled old lady, yelled at me
I was swinging, in my favorite tree
Oh, how happy, I will be
When the old gal, can no longer see

I know this sounds, cruel of me
But, climbing that thing, gives me such glee
I don't care, if she breaks my knee
I'm going to keep, scaling this tree

You just can't believe, how far I see
Half the world, at least to me
"Don't call, Mom Or Dad", I plea
Leave me alone, you old banshee

Sitting sheltered, in its lee
It blocks the cold, to some degree
God, I love this, great old tree
Here is where, I'd always be

I'll drink discomfort, like it were tea
Build a nest, and a bird I'll be
Listen up, to my decree
"Leave me alone." Mrs. Giacobbi

This is a great nostalgic poem. Mom told me about this poem the other day. It take me down memory land to the old neighborhood on Vicksburg street. Brings back such fond memories.
