My Tragic Unforeseen Death

A melancholy mood prevails today, and clouded by a scene that’s so surreal. The organ music wails of life’s decay; my casket brings on tears they can’t conceal. My beautiful short story undefined; this sudden death was in the midst of life. My friends and family I leave behind; to make it on her own my woeful wife. And as I watch the mourners congregate to celebrate my life and pay respects, this solemn somber scene does demonstrate a thirsty sip of life that’s so complex. And so it’s written on my epithet to always live your life without regret. May16, 2018 Contest: A Poem About Death Sponsor: Broken Wings Theme: in the midst of life

Belated congrats on an excellent poem about death John; at times we as human beings have to wonder what will happen at our own funerals and you nailed it in this delightful (yet sad) poem with a wonderful epithet to end it!~Che :)

Thank you for your comments, Jan, Debbie was a bit freaked out when she read it as well. I was channeling Tom Sawyer attending his own funeral though he was alive and well sitting in the choir loft and I HAD met my demise. John
