My Tom Cat "ponch"

My tom cat Ponch can be a gentleman
In many more ways than one
He’s a lean, handsome, riotous
Unassuming and street smart
His word is his bond you can be sure
He speaks his mind on time
He has no patience for pretense
He purrs and purrs until I stir
So cajoling he can be

My tom cat Ponch can be a wild child
With a gift for verse and prose
He lights my furnace and melts my heart
He serenades with poetic words
He’s romantic and full of passion
And though not rich, yet I still will keep
His heart as good as gold
‘Cause he purrs and purrs until I stir
So obliging I want to be

I am a bit afraid to stir much on this one Audrey. For I don't know for sure if tom cat Ponch is being a gentleman, or is a gentleman. Smile. At any rate your poem is neat, and cool. Is written very well. Sincerely, Love, Moses

I have three cats. You can imagine what I go through every morning. Each one has their own personality and their own way of waking me up in the morning when they want to be fed. Nice free verse!---Milt

Interesting cat that you have there. I suppose that he is a early riser that wants everyone to be up when he hits the floor. Good luck if it is an entry in the contest. Keep the creative pen flowing. Thanks for the comments on my poem. Sara

Ponch sounds like he brings a lot of joy to your life, even if his purring "stirs" (perhaps waking you when you wish to sleep). Seems like you have developed quite a bond with him and I hope he's in your life for many years to come. Very nice poem! Love, Carolyn
