My Special Place

My special place I walk along the cobbled road Relive my memories How I used to skim those stones And climb up all the trees Sit in fields chewing grass Paddle in the stream Watch the clouds blow slowly past And of future days I’d dream I could see those future days A life set free from rules With endless time set out to play And no more boring schools I’d find a place where I fit in One where I belong Then my life would really begin With all my worries gone I enjoy my favourite view With a smile upon my face Reliving memories old and new In this my special place I count my blessing one by one My worries I unload My heart is filled with a happy song As I walk the cobbled road

I spent many summers at the top of a Cottonwood tree in a giant tree house, feeling that if I ever got out of school, I would never look back. This poem brings back that childhood for me too, Robert.
