My Sailor Boy

My sailor boy, my sailor boy, This lovely boy whom I adore, His good ship brought him home from war. I though he'd sail away no more. Safe at last from the oceans storms, My sailor boy, my sailor boy. I welcomed him with open arms. I wooed him with my girlish charms. I wanted to keep him from the sea, To keep him always near to me, My sailor boy, my sailor boy. So happy we were sure to be. When that big ship left port one day, He didn't heed my pleas to stay. He climbed aboard and sailed away. My sailor boy, my sailor boy. For Joe Flach's contest. One good quatern deserves another honoralbe mention

This poem flows very well. I can see the images clearly. There is always a call to duty. One has to salute the flag and drive on. Best wishes with the contest. Great job! Joseph

How sad that he finally returned from war and you "thought he'd sail away no more," Joyce. They say you cannot take the sailor away from the sea. Excellent Quatern and I love your repeating line. Thanks for your kind words on "Night Visions," but I entered a new one "Lonely No More" in the fear contest, because loneliness is my greatest fear. Wishing you success in Joe's contest! Love, Carolyn
