My Response To Rumi

So many times I carried a monster inside me; it kept on eating my joy away, like an ember at the cigarette tip. I was embarrassed to talk about my dark secrets, afraid to sound like a shattering vase inside me. "Everyone is broken, my child," a sage once told me. "It's just that they don't talk about their brokenness".... He told me that if I accepted I was broken and focused on my healing, I would become as beautiful as a vase, whose pieces were joined using liquid gold. So good, Teddy, and so appropriate. I wonder how many sages still smoke? I'm sure some do.
