My Rain Cloud My Cover

I have loved more deeply than ever I thought possible Fairy tales are not true And happy ever afters rarely occur I have made my life more difficult Then it ever had to be But it was made more interesting for the errors I have made If there ever comes an accounting of the mistakes I have rendered I will be buried by them But there is only one single regret And though I know I have been forgiven for it I do not think I will ever forgive myself I look into those beautiful intelligent brown eyes That I have helped to create And see love and forgiveness Always forgiveness and I do not deserve it But I accept it as the gift that it is And I hold onto you The only thing I know is real In a world of angry faces and words that can rip a person to pieces You are my beacon of light No matter how reluctant you are to shine
