My Promises To Myself

I promise myself
To keep my head high
Above the water
That rages on the lands
Of this confusing world!

I promise myself
To do good to others
As much as I will be able to
So that
Someday
When the time shall come
To be placed on a scale
And to be weighed
I shall carry no regrets on my soul!

I promise myself
To smile at all times
And to bother not
About those nightmares
That grip my sleep
Bidding me to lose my sense of reality
That I find myself
Accepting to be treated as second choice!

I promise myself
To stand up for my rights
Whether they push me
To stand up and to face the world
As one against a million!

I promise myself
To enjoy this world
As much as I will be able to
Indulging in everything that gives me pleasure
As long as I will be alive!

I promise myself
To let go
Of that which hurts me
And to bury the pain
In a graveyard
To be remembered solely
As that which allowed me
To grow!

I promise myself
To paint my own world
With the glittery sparkles of stars
And to gift the canvas to the cosmos
So that it gets displayed to the whole
Of Existence
And never ceases to amaze anyone
Who would simply glance at it!

I promise myself
To keep my promises
As a promise
Is not to be taken lightly
A promise, rather,
Is a pledge
Made to the Gods!

The most beautiful promises are the ones we make to ourselves because we keep them. So hopeful. Congratulations on your win Anoucheka :)
