My Prayer
THE PRAYER
Oh dear universal God,
educated in religion I am not,
but this I know and feel it so,
with this body and mind,
a soul you shall find.
Confessing at times, evil led astray,
as I yearned to have my own way.
For goodness and God,
I became blind,
and at times, I did not reach,
nor try to find you dear God,
leaving me in darkness and disaster,
hearing echoes,
of evil laughter.
Then to cry in pain,
with guilt and shame.
I pray for forgiveness, upon my knees,
and for thy heavenly pleas,
You answer my prayer in loving care,
restoring my wisdom and sight,
from evil temptation to fight.
With pennance I heal,
but spiritual scars still remain,
a memory,
not fall from God to evil again,
and to help fulfil,
the Godly souls with goodwill.
Amen.
