My Philosophy of Life
“A person's prime duty is to serve others,”
Said he to his men and women in his prime time,
And that is what I read, heard, and this bothers
Me when on my philosophy of life, I rhyme.
He kept his life, his dear life, often at risk;
He left, keeping stars between him and his city
As a wayfarer, not knowing where his brisk
Walk would take him to, yet he left out of pity.
When he sniffed after each clue, in quest of truth,
Everyone around, warned him not to head with it,
Yet warning, nor groaning could stop this youth,
Who took his eyes off though this fate he could quit.
He kept his motto in life, by toiling for us,
By losing his clear eyes, by risking his dear life;
I won’t risk my dear life, but without any fuss,
I'll do my due part, to assist you in your strife.
