My Passion

To pass through dura matter, leave the wilderness behind
Exit above vast spaces, join imperceivable dots
Have an out of body experience, each and every night

Uncover reality, burn away banality
Know why, observing a quanta gives it choice
Place this very thought on weighing scales, does it contain mass

Enter a singularity, ask why it occupies no space
Fly backwards through eternity, and emerge straight ahead
Find out what compelled me to write this damn verse
Something did, but from which universe

I know I’m barely nothing in the grand scheme of things
but I am something,
which means, without me the whole’s incomplete
To ponder that line, oh to ponder it so deep

Do ends and beginnings run parallel along membranous lines
can omnipotence fill the hollow within
Will cosmic branes shimmer and buckle,
then divide exponentially
Why steeped in passion came an aberration of kindness,
prepared and willing to be hung out to dry

Plenty to think about here David, I believe our whole existence is one big mystery and trying to unravel it could drive you insane. Good luck in the contest. Tom

Thanks Tom, indeed sometimes I think I am insane for pondering so deep, but I enjoy the mystery, so try all avenues of approach, especially the apparent dead ends, cheers David

David, I really enjoyed this poem. You have nailed it. I feel very much the same way on occasion, so I can relate. I couldn't have ever expressed it so well as you did. Good writing, my friend.

Thank you so much Milton, we ponder the imponderable, I don’t believe we where given this ability not to use it, the human condition is indeed unique, and only limited by our own imagination, cheers David

Your lines give more than pause for thought, David. They leave me with more questions than I fear can be answered. Bon chance in the contest.

Thank you Jenna, All these questions I love to ponder, why? For the simple reason I have the desire and imagination to ponder such things, science says the human mind doesn’t have to understand how it works, another question perhaps, I’m not sure I agree, cheers David
