My Parallel

You can be heartless. You can be hateful. I give you permission. It's so much more tolerable than silence, Because your silence cuts deeper than anything I have ever known. I can't think of any other way. You can be unforgiving, I'll let it be. You will complete me just by being. And there will be no argument about whether or not it matters to have not grown up together... You are my parallel, And you will be my air. We will undo past mistakes, When everything else is forgotten. You will be careful with my heart, And you will be gracious. I'd have you either way, Bitter and spiteful or warm with eyes of promise, The bittersweet sugar on the tip of my tongue, You can be poison or the sweetest drug. I give you permission. My heart is beating only because you are breathing. You will complete me just by being.
