My Old Car
My old car, she started out quite a sight
sitting dormant in a pasture,
without a motor, long forgotten
weeds and trees growing through it.
I did not see a neglected vehicle
buy the fine maching that it could be.
A tractor and chain
pulled her free of her grassy grave.
A new engine dropped in place.
Lots of greasy hands
and many hours spent.
Slowly, she came to life.
With the rust removed,
new paint applied,
and a good polishing,
she was magnificent.
Smooth lines full of muscle
fire engine red, black inside.
She purred like a kitten at rest.
Roared like a lion when tested.
Born in 69,
came to life in 89.
