My New Normal

It’s Whedon’s (1) best series, adventures of ‘Buffy - the Slayer of Vampires’ a mystical bombshell, (God’s justice meets world). Mind as lithe as a Willow (so NOT a bad pun), she stakes hearts that aren’t beating, ‘puts down’ what drinks life force, she’s zipper on ‘hell’s mouth.’ (2) Her life’s not a blond joke; its stake’s point’s a kindness! She flirts with ‘grey matters’ yet fights tooth and claw just to pacify vampires and demons among us (more bull-headed fascists)! But Christ-like her heart strains toward vampire whose soul got restored by a curse (from some gyps) on the darkness of Buffy’s bleak ‘Angel.’ Her future’s Love’s hymn for abatement of evil, but Grace her first choice as it blesses life’s fallen! I feel this myth germinate soul (with bard’s pollen) that focuses heart more on acts of some devil that fester around, plague my heart! I’m not Virgil, my poetry stumbles, its flavors more ‘dim sum’ less feast for the ages, but fluency makes gains. My heart would reveal self in verse, not cause fracas with siblings whose sin’s less than mine, or evoke dust by staking, not scrub what still shines or serve blindness. Let love more distinguish the North from the old South where Black’s just a color, not comment, and eating the weak does not scream you are strong! Let me pillow each truth that I share with a brother, for death’s knell seems certainly curtains for all! Man’s truth iffy! Brian Johnston 31st of January in 2021 Poet’s Notes: (1) Joss Whedon is the creator of both the remarkable 8 season TV Series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and its 5 season spinoff ‘Angel.’ (2) Buffy’s hometown Sunnydale (in CA naturally) is located over a mouth to Hell, which in part helps to explain why only one ‘Slayer’ gets assigned for the whole world, I guess!
