My Name Was On the Hammer
My name was on the hammer
My guilt was on the nails
My sins were upon His back
Weighed in God's justice scales
The hammer was used to drive
Nails through His hands and feet
Hanged as a criminal
The Savior they did mistreat
My sin had a penalty
That I was unable to pay
Jesus paid the debt for me
On the cross He chose to stay
The harsh penalty of sin
Is eternal misery
Jesus suffered on the cross
So I could claim victory
Jesus cried out forsaken
Calling His Father's name
God could not look upon Him
As He bore my sin and shame
On the cross Jesus suffered
To pay a debt He did not owe
As the soldier pierced His side
Blood and water did flow
His torment almost over
It is finished He cried in pain
His spirit then left Him
The ground His blood did stain
Of nothing was He guilty
By my sins He was stained
While hanging on the cross
My penalty He sustained
My sins were upon His back
Weighed in God's justice scales
My name was on the hammer
My guilt was on the nails
