Long nights I stood beneath the sky,
And strained to hear the heavens cry,
Then sang the sun with day to break ...
My muse, once sleeping ... is awake.
I sauntered thru my years, carefree,
Content to dream what life might be,
Til death came sneaking like a snake ...
My muse, once sleeping ... is awake.
My loves were frequent, no remorse,
I swam up souls to find their source,
Until love brought my heart to ache ...
My muse, once sleeping ... is awake.
I chose a pen to scribe my thoughts,
But could not loose the inner knots,
Then learned to untie each mistake ...
My muse, once sleeping ... is awake.
