Notes About The Poem

My Muse

My muse, he comes and wakes me in the night
in urgent tones he whispers in my ear
my thoughts are kissed by him and take to flight
and all the while his words come fast and clear

At times he takes me to celestial heights
with stars clandestine to dance and play
at times he guides me to those inner sights
my cloistered passion shrine, he'll gently splay

each virgin thought that lies within my soul
with patience born of love he will undress
he will not stop until the rhyme is whole
and till release is come, he will caress

My muse, he makes the sweetest love to me
and from his seed is birthed my poetry

Eileen

That's the first time I've been compared to Pierce. Beats the heck out of Gilligan *lol* occasionally I get Kevin Costner. Thanks for adding a smile to my morning.

Hi, Richard...I'm glad you liked this write. There is no ONE muse. Inspiration comes from different places and different people depending on time and circumstance. This was a fantasy write personifying my muse. :) I did enjoy writing this. Busy weekend. Work at home and work for classes. My muse is on holiday. ;)

A very well written poem............A.M.

I'm glad you have your muses, dear. :) This was a fantasy write. I get inspiration from different places. Definitely, at times the muse is a woman....I'd rather think of it as a man. As you can see from the picture I posted. This was a trip of sweet delirious fantasy. Thanks for the visit. I haven't seen you in a while.

FIRST item of business: Where in the heck did you find that picture of me? You are beginning to rival Andrea who I have dubbed 'The Sonnet Queen of the Soup' (Will you settle for Princess?) Favorite line among many: 'My thoughts are kissed by him and take to flight'....Yes indeed my friend - Tim

Why, if it isn't Mr Ryerson. Hello, dear. I really had to search hard to find the pic. Hope you don't mind. Yes, I know that you have named Andrea the Queen of Sonnets. I've written many sonnets and it's become my favorite form to write in. I don't mind being called the Princess as I've been named the Queen of the Romantic Pen by Richard. :) It's all good, dear. I'm glad you liked this piece. I've missed your visits. I know comments jump...Oh, and a little jealousy if fun! Hugs

Hello, Eagle. I've often wanted to save your comments for they are so poetic and sweet. This is a prime example. I don't know how you make the words dance the way that you do, but the flow is beautiful and heartwarming. You have played the part of muse in all the poems that I wrote for your four contests in which I won first place. :) Also, our collaboration, Eye Power was a testament to your inspiration. This was poem was the personification of the muse and how his intimacy with the poetess leaves the fruit of poetry to the world. Thank you for your lovely visit. Hope the pleasure lasts.

Is there need to point out that sonnets are very close to your heart, Eileen! Excellent reference to your male muse...mine always comes in female form! Clever final couplet! Hugs // paul

October 25, 2015 at 9:06 AM
Yes, Paul. Oh Yes! Sonnets are the poems of my heart and soul. Yes, the Muse takes on different shapes and forms; however, since I wanted to take the sensual route, it has to be a male....a strong, virile, dominant male. I'm glad you liked it, dear. Hugs

this sonnet appears very popular, eileen, and rightly so! where would we poetry-passionate women be without our male muses, eh? i particularly like those last two lines, they close the poem out well...thanks for your comment on my cinquain, made me smile, are you going to try one? can i tempt you with a haibun?? lol
Manassian Avatar
October 25, 2015 at 9:51 AM
In the world of poetry...It's all good, dear. ;) I've written a haibun before...May I enter an older write? If not...may I write a sensual haibun! ;( Hugs, sweetie. So good to have you visit. You are such gifted poetess. You inspired me to try to write in a different way and my 2nd place win in your contest with Steeped in Virginal Dreams will always be a high point for me. Hugs

Very beautiful sonnet my friend. My muse is a cruel vixen(she-devil) that never undresses me! Part of the pain is her beauty rivals Aphrodite but her temper outranks Zeus. Great sonnet-- A7
