My Momma Always Told Me

My mother always told me ~ "If your head wasn't attached, you'd lose that too" Throughout my life, I was born to lose Ever since I was able to walk; in shoes At two years old, I lost my first toy My momaa told me- "That's because you're a boy" At three years old, I lost my first truck My dadda told me- "You lost it...you're sh-t out a luck" At five years old, I lost my first tooth My brudder told me- "You look like a doof!" At ten years old, I lost my first bike My sisster told me- "To go take a hike" At twenty years old, I lost my first job My uncoo'l told me- "Can't you find something to rob" At thirty years old, I lost my first wife The preachaman told me- "To go get a new life" At sixty years old, I'd lost my mind (If all my loses were in a box full of loses) Ya wanna know, what would be the first, I would hope to find Sorry, too much time has been bought I think I lost my thought

Thanks SO, those are some really awesome words, my friend. Comments like these will stick with me. Likewise, to you...keep on writing and remember...it's not really what we think of ourselves that really matters, it's what others may think of you that's most important. And for what I know about you, you are a soulful and caring dude. That hits home, my friend. Peace be with you...Charlie

Its sad but true, how you’ve described it all, losses of life throughout dear charles, you’ve done in a very creative manner making your lines rhyme too. From all i felt the saddest reading the line about losing first wife. But you delivered it in a light hearted manner and the ending too is brilliant, clever one this is, pleasure reading. Best wishes for the contest

Hi Ink, I've lost two wives, to divorce (lol) But we must always stay positive. We all have lost something in our lives, whether it be a treasured piece, a loved one, or something else. If we truly miss it, it will always stay with us. Thank you for your wishes, support and kind words... Love & light, Charlie

I enjoyed reading your poem and some of your personal history. I enjoyed the rhyme scheme and the rambling, somewhat chaotic reflections. That 'chaos' worked...and now I've lost my thoughts...have a great evening, Sara
