My Mind
My Mind
Inside my mind there are many doors,
Many rooms in which to explore.
Some in darkness, while others in light,
Some gloomy, while others shine bright.
Many doors are closed under lock and key,
While others are open for the world to see,
Come on in, won’t you take a look,
Read me like an open book.
Sample the atmosphere; step in from the rain,
For in the unlocked rooms there is no pain.
Just the best that life has to give,
The best part of the life I live.
~
Wouldn’t life be great to stay in the room?
And not unlock the ones full of gloom.
But in every life there comes a storm,
Heavy rains that are above the norm.
Sadness, desperation, and uncontrollable loss,
Every bad decision that had a measurable cost.
We lock them in the rooms of our mind,
Hoping that no one will ever find.
And hopefully, they never will,
But every fountain has its fill.
The locks come loose and the ugliness comes out,
Whipping us with a ruthless belt.
Destroying things in its path,
There’s no escaping its consuming wrath.
~
Inside my mind there are many doors,
Many rooms to explore.
Choose wisely which ones to see,
For inside there’s a little of both in me.
