My Midnight Valentine - Slight Revision

She comes to me on four small feet
which softly on my blankets tread.
So beautiful is she, so sweet;
she comes to me on four small feet,
then reaches out her paw to greet
me as I waken in my bed!
She comes to me on four small feet
which softly on my blankets tread.

Like silken midnight is her fur.
A black cat is my valentine.
It soothes me to be petting her!
Like silken midnight is her fur;
a dulcet lullabye's her purr!
This green eyed beauty is all mine.
Like silken midnight is her fur.
A black cat is my valentine.

How sweet Andrea. I love cats. I have always had a cat in my life until the past two years when our last Tommy cat died. I know how much cats and dogs mean to you too. Best luck for the contest. xoxo : )

I love this, Andrea. Black cats get such a bad "rap" and yet they purr and love us just as much as any other kitty. Great little poem...as usual. :D

So beautiful! My grandson’s favorite cat was Mohawk, a black fur cat. I love - a dulcet lullaby’s her purr!

Well written Andrea, have had some over time. Very independent animals but they certainly become part of the family. Tom.

I love this poem. I love cats. I love the way you put the poem together in rhyme and also the way you showed me how much you love your cat. The description of the cat and you I found wonderful. Janet Marie Bingham

Your valentine sounds beautiful! I used to have a green-eyed cat named Tommy who learned to make a cry that sounded like "Mommy!" when he was outside and wanted me to open the door and let him in. Good luck in the contest. This triggered Tommy's memory to me. I had not thought of him for a long time!
