My Lover's Scent

Author's Note: This is about a long distance relationship I don't know My lover's scent I know the scent of rain And wet fur I know the scent of frost And woodsmoke I know the spicy scent Of wet leaves But I don't know My lover's scent I've memorized His voice I know How he loves His family, his guitar and his God I know How he hates Haircuts I know How sometimes He talks in his sleep And he'll believe Anything you tell him With a straight face- I've sketched his eyes Until I could Draw them from Memory But I don't know My lover's scent
