My Last Wish
The paper sits in front of me… what do I say
I’m leaving this world, can’t see another day
Do I start with thanks
Do I end with goodbye
With each stroke my heart writes red
Perhaps it’s time for me to lie in bed
Will it be war
Will it be peace
I think of my friends I once had
And now so many gone… how sad
They had no choice
They had to go
The red ink now states my final desire
And explains in detail the friendly fire
They need to know
They need to act
What happened here was not our fault
And they will cover up the assault.
Then there is a tap on my shoulder
She’s dressed in white and a little older
She softly touches my check
And gives me an enticing wink
Who is this person, I thought
She spoke in a whisper… let’s go for a walk
She smiled and held out her hand
I shook my head, I don’t understand
You will find the truth and it will be clear
And remember you have nothing to fear
For all the red will be replaced with blue
You will feel no pain after you pass through
We are going to a place far from your birth
I’ve heard that some… even call it Earth.
