My Last Thoughts
I lie in bed unable
To move or speak.
My back pains so,
I cry but shed no
Tears.
I close my eyes but
Only see my faded
Dreams.
Slowly I drift away
On a distant ocean
Of blind light.
A shadow instantly
Appears, it whispers
Into my ear; I feel
No pain.
I see my family in
The distance, I
Reach out and
Embrace them tightly,
I fall asleep but
Never to awake.
