Notes About The Poem

John's Last Page Missing Contest ~ 9/6/26

My Last Confession of Affection

My thoughts were of you today
as I sat and wrote another letter.
It's said that a signed love letter
is the truest confession of affection.
Mine have filled pages that you will never read~
  of things I no longer have the chance to say to you;
words of passion left unsaid, of anger put to bed
and of the dreams we once held dear.

Last month I wrote about the song you wrote for me
of how I struggled to hold back my tears~
   torn between watching your face
and your fingers as they caressed the keys~
imagining how they'd feel moving over me.
I wrote of my thirst for you... then and still
although this letter will never reach you
on this last page, I had to let you know

Last week, I wrote to thank you for loving me.
It was the greatest gift we gave to each other,
but it's supposed to endure all things
How sad to think of a star dying.
Sad to think that now, when I look at the stars,
I can feel your arms around me.
You asked me to write a poem about fallen stars,
wondering where they go when they die.
The last line was, "Heartache is elusive to the eye."
I no longer believe that to be true
for my heart aches from missing you.
You're no longer beside me as I sleep.
Our eyes no longer gaze into each other's,
but my heart weeps with every beat.

Today, I wrote you... one more love letter
This last one will be in your beribboned pack
One last letter, one last page
that you will never know you were missing.
I signed it as I always do ~"With love,"
and added it to all the others,
safely kept in the back of my desk drawer.

I cannot post them now that you've passed away
"Farewell my love," are tearful words
that would've stained the page ~
a valediction my hand refused to write.

Awwn ma Linsszzz, this made my heart hurt for you, i didn't know of this before, sigh, u must have been suffering so much with the loss.. expressing yourself through poetry I think must be a form of catharsis at this time.. i dun even have words to empathise.. can only imagine the situation and the heartache. Really made me shed tears for you, sweet soul, you deserve all the love ...and healing, take your time.. The way you've written "You asked me to write a poem about fallen stars, wondering where they go when they die. The last line was, "Heartache is elusive to the eye." I no longer believe that to be true for my heart aches from missing you. You're no longer beside me as I sleep. " Goshh.. my soul weeps after reading this. I haven't had any love experience yet in life, neither any relationship, but it breaks my heart to read these lines 💔❤️‍🩹

You owe no apology to me. If my poem allowed you to open up and release your feelings, that's perfectly fine. In fact, I consider it a good thing if something I've written has let old memories of your break free. 🌹

I'm not sure it's what John may have wanted as an entry, and I wasn't going to enter until this morning when thoughts about the letters and poems I'd written for David that he'd never seen. 😢

"Last month I wrote about the song you wrote for me " i remember the song dear Linnersz, sigh! He was a romantic and would want you to always keep him alive through your poetry! You were a wonderful soul to him ~ I know and feel that! "One last letter, one last page that you will never know you were missing. I signed it as I always do..."With love,"" that is just so touching and soulfully moving! Made my heart hurt for you and think, of how strong you are! And despite your pain you smile

Thank you, Ink for having such a kind and sympathetic heart. I'm ok and kept thinking about how much worse I would've felt if he hadn't reached out to me 4 years ago so that we could salvage our friendship.💕

Have you just posted a hundred poems??? 😂 Death and grief go hand in hand my friend... You write emotions so well that AI could learn a thing or two from you... Human poetry is always the most beautiful and your words as always touch my heart.. We have all lost a loved one and I lost one to suicide and although it was over 30 years ago, i have never written a poem about it... Maybe I should for this theme.. anyway, you inpsired a long comment from me... 😊

A recent discovery? sorry to hear about your ex.. that is sad, even though you were apart.. Is he the one you used to talk to me about, the lorry driver/late night worker?

Not quite a hundred 😊but this is the only one that I'd call a poem. The others from this morning are only drivel for the fun challenges admin has been holding. I did it for a couple of weeks and then stopped, but a recent discovery has me wanting to climb that ladder again. This last page poem was written with David in mind, my ex who unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. Emotions played themselves through my mind as I envisioned him playing his piano and writing beautiful songs. What a treasured compliment you've offered about AI. Thank you for telling me I've inspired you, and YES... you should write about the death of your friend. You'll be surprised at what your memories uncover.
