My Heart Is Yours

I see blood on your hands
and as you leave through my bedroom door
I wonder...
What is it that you so mercilessly killed,
leaving a red pathway on the floor?

I look around and everything is in place.
I search my bed, some empty drawers
then I feel the open wound on my chest,
a bloody mess where once my heart was.

And I finally understand:
You only take,
never leaving anything behind.
