My Heart Is Heavy Like a Cloth

My heart is heavy like a cloth
Soaked with the brine of memory
Our thoughts are haunted
By the wrath
Of failed endeavors, lost bridges
Our hearts had built
To escape the clamoring tongue
Of some inner guilt
That we were not all
We should have been.
My heart is heavy like a cloth
Soaked in the swamp of history
Do not struggle in the quicksand,
Child, stand still
And call louder than a thunder
That heaven send a helping hand
Our fate is not our own.

Your title alone intrigued me and I sure am glad I read it--such a wonderful poem with deep meanings...

Good line in the end, pretty wise words indeed; it is harsh to consider that we are controlled though, yet that might be the truth, the real one, a cubist painting @.@ thanks for the experience!!

there is one similar Mathew 11 : 28- 30 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Jesus relieves our burdens and leads us in a life of peace and rest. also psalm 23 springs to mind verse 1-3 I am thinking of you God bless you from diane
