My Heart Is Full

My heart was full of hate for many years
Spewing anger, spite and many tears
I wasn't willing to listen to anything new
Just because I was different than you

You ignored my insults never a mention
Of how I hurt you just for attention
My heart was full of low self esteem
Because my father's heart was black and mean

Your heart is always full of sweet compassion
When these days that is never in fashion
A sweet gift you are willing to give
An example to us all on how to live

My heart is becoming full of your love
Grace to change from God above
Its never too late for an old guy like me
To change my heart and be set free

My heart is now full of joy
It wasn't too late for this old boy
So open your heart and if you do
I have plenty of love to give to you
