My Heart Is A Secret Garden

My heart is a secret garden
Overgrown from years of neglect,
Surrounded by dead memories
With walls of brambles to protect.

Dancing butterfly flowers
And scented lavender dreams, 
Once hugged this hopeful garden, 
But love's fleeting, or so it seems.

Many have missed the gateway 
Or never found that buried key,
That opens up the rusted lock
To reach the heart of me.

There is still a breathless longing
In the heart that lies within.
It needs the sunshine of true love,
So the healing can begin.
