My Grams

It was just another ordinary day, per say, the hour before my sweet grams passed away. Some shiver in sorrow or drown in regret, but that last hour I shall never forget. To receive one last kiss upon my cheek, knowing soon she’d be falling asleep. To whisper one more I love you in her ear, knowing that death would soon be near. Not something to be feared or anything, but watching my grams grow angel wings. And as she gently let go of my side, I watched her cross over to the great divide. The brightest moment I’d live through again, is watching grams turn into an angel friend. For now, she is with me wherever I choose, and that precious hour I shall never lose. December 3, 2016

Your poem is very touching, LuLoo - I noticed you hadn't been on SOUP in awhile. Now I suspect your absence was due to losing your Gram - she made her transition, it seems. Your love for her is palatable throughout your lovely lines that combine grief with faith and gratitude for her life, her relationship with you. I'm sorry for your loss, no matter brave words and optimistic attitudes, I know it hurts. Thank goodness you have poem therapy. You're in my prayers ... CayCay
