My 'Glass Crystal' High

Writing is my amphetamine addiction that will never end,
and there is no bitter after crash or need to mend;
on words and inspiration I get a glass crystal high,
oh, sweet the ecstasy like a beautiful bird flying in the sky.
The theme of a poem gives me excitement and power,
I am 'up' like a blast of caffeine for many an hour;
and do not need speed or cocaine or pills of any kind,
for my adrenaline stimulant comes from within my mind.
And after, I have written my words I am left calm,
not tormented, tense, nervous or like hit by a bomb;
I do not have to inject, smoke, take a pill, or sniff,
all I need to do to get high- is step off a word cliff.
