My Future Self
The sound of nature surrounds me, filling the void of silence as I sit at the top of this hill. The sun is shining and mountains are all around showing their beauty. Breathe in, breathe out I remind myself. Here on my mat I envision your presence and what we become. Perhaps we finally reached our goals, or found a new calling. Perhaps we chose a different path than the one I know now. Breathe in, breathe out I remind myself. You are a long distance away, but not too far. I will never meet you, but you already know about me. I can feel your presence as I sit here now with my heart opened and eyes closed. Breathe in, breathe out I remind myself.
Many questions and answers I long to have from you, but I know I will have to wait until I finally meet you. Since I cannot speak to you I have written this for you. By then we will be one person, mind, and soul, but for now we are separate, divided by time. You cannot send me a letter from the future, but I can give you a message from the past: Empower, envision, and enlightenment. I know you won't receive this letter for a long while, since you are years ahead of me. My hope is that these words provide mindfulness to you then as they have me now. This letter is to you, my future self.
