My Furry Feline Friend

Abandoned as a little kitten...
You’ve been my constant companion 

Velvet padded paws hiding such sharp claws 
Sleek silky silver grey coat 
My furry feline friend 

Kitty when you were younger 
You’d bring home a tiny mouse 
Now we are both arthritic 
And confined to our small house 

You climb on my lap 
Purring so contentedly 
I stroke your soft fur 
Soon we are both fast asleep 
Approaching our twilight years

Tom Arnone August 21, 2016 at 3:59 PM That's sweet, Jan. I like the "Now we are both arthritic" line. We had to put our 17-year old cat to sleep after she started having seizures. Congrats! Jan Allison August 21, 2016 at 4:08 PM It's a bit bizarre Tom as on Friday I was diagnosed with moderate arthritis in my neck and spine ... I didn't see the doctor until over a week after I wrote the poem and had my x ray only last week .. funny how my words have come back to haunt me . They seem to like me too, i think it could be something to do with my victorian beard. I don't know what it is, animals just seem to like me. I like the four different forms.
