Notes About The Poem

My Funny Valentine Poetry Contest
Sponsored by: Andrea Dietrich Written 1/28/2026

My Funny Valentine

My husband, an outdoorsman, came to bed
with a coonskin cap on his massive head;
he said it helps him feel firm.
I try not to laugh and squirm.
I yield to his needs; I bought a pelt spread.

Dear Eve, I am grinning... love has its own odd rituals, and you’ve caught one of those moments where affection and absurdity shake hands. Funny how the small quirks end up being the glue in a long life together. Winter Blessings, Eve, Daniel
