My Fix

My Fix

I open my eyes to the bright new day,
Thanking my Lord come what may.
I know He’ll be with me through every trial,
So I’ll linger with Him and talk for awhile.
Stretching in comfort, joy, and peace,
A warm cocoon of soul relief,
It’s my time with God before starting my day
To thank Him again for the price He paid
For my peace and my joy, my hope-filled new life,
For my fearless comfort, He sacrificed
His only begotten, His perfect Son,
His death on the cross for sin undone.
God had to fix me as only He could.
It took precious cleansing by the Lord Jesus’ blood.

I think of the old girl how she passed away.
I won’t let her actions haunt me today,
Yet regret fills my heart for the life that she led,
And I think with relief, I’m so glad she’s dead.
Along with life’s stresses, worries and fears,
I’ll take them to Jesus with joy and tears.
Tears for the old girl jaded and grim,
Living and sinning, she forgot about Him.
Her sin darkly selfish seeking a thrill
To fill a hole in her heart only Jesus could fill.
That’s the me that is dead, the me that is gone.
Sin had become me; I could not atone.
God had to fix me as only He could.
It took precious cleansing by the Lord Jesus’ blood.

Joy floods my soul and praise reserved
For Christ, my Lord, so deserved.
My utmost love and glory given,
For I have struggled fleshly driven.
Creature comfort my own space,
Selfish pride needing grace,
But when my fleshly struggles ceased,
I came to Him on bended knee;
And surrendered gladly to His love
Provided for a price by God above.
It took Himself, His precious Son,
A sacrifice for sin undone.
God had to fix me as only He could.
It took precious cleansing by the Lord Jesus’ blood.
