How My First Poem was Born Poetry Contest

~ Placed First~

(When got bedridden for months with a debilitating disease in 2007, to escape from depression, I turned to poetry) in pits of despair I lay, finding all doors shut. a sad impaired bird~ with broken wings wished to fly into sky, breaking all chains. a feat so daring my mind urged me to just try I started scribbling~ took off on fancy’s light wings. found words dancing on paper. gloom gave way to hope rhyme and sweet rhythm came in pair thoughts turned poetic~ they took the form of clean verse thus, my first poem was born

Dear sweet valsa, im so sorry you’ve had to endure such a situation, being bedridden is no fun, and ive seen loved ones bedridden and how poetry helped them too, so your story here youv written about in the form of tanka in such a poetic manner , i truly can empathize with, and i must say you are a natural with words! And i still would love to also read your published books too. You have a very seamless way of expressing and that makes your poetry an easy read. Best wishes in the contest. Sending you light always

You articulate your path effectively through this. Numerous others will resonate with your experience, not solely myself. I am pleased that you have regenerated and are now a member of this family. You have more cause to celebrate than to lament. Particularly given that you are currently one of the most esteemed artists on this platform. Every endeavor has a beginning, dear Valsa. Best wishes for the contest.

Thank you so much for your sweet comment, dear Silent One. I am so sorry to hear that you had to undergo chemo. From a fall, there will be a rise! Let us believe that. As we sail through adverse currents, there will come someone as a savior. In your case Rumi came to inspire you, now you have grown almost to the stature of Rumi. So, leave aside your gloom and be thankful. There is greater reason for you to rejoice than grieve.
