My First Poem

All these years ago it began then I picked up my black pen wondering if I could write poetry so doubtful was I back then But then my grey cells responded bringing thoughts mindfully alive from that point, confidence grew brings a vision point to truly strive Having been set to write poetry it's appropriate what made my debut for my subject matter set to write a long-pointed thing is my clue By now you'll have worked it out that first poem was titled 'The Pen' which would be my best ever friend writing in my notebook forever open To think now many I've penned using up gallons of flowing ink it all began with a pen of mine which was indeed my missing link! (This is written looking back on the first poem written all these years ago, so many pens have been used since then!)

I think writing is great therapy for many of us. It helps us to look at things and examine what motivates us. In any case I'm glad you took to writing otherwise w may never have had the opportunity to meet. Good stuff Gordon. God Bless, JB

I love the expressive nature of this poem... Its so real and heartfelt, and relatable ... I know how it feels to doubt yourself, but it all works out so well in the end :)

So glad you picked up your pen back then Gordon. I started to write poetry at school at the age of fourteen. The teacher gave us a project to do, writing an anthology of verse, I enjoyed it so much I never stopped writing poetry from then on, that’s sixty one years in all ~ Belle

Its pretty much the same Gordon,if you log on to the forum, you'll find my user name don't laugh "Prince Charles" at the top. There are two sites on Family Friend Forum you can post as many poems as you wish,on the sister site Family Friend Poems, its only one poem a month, once its published you can post another.

Hi John, Trust you're having a restful Sunday, that's interesting about your poetry and I will check out the poetry link you gave. Sorry about your loss, I lost my first wife in '82 and remarried to Christine in 1990. Is the Family friends site ran like PS or is it different? Take care, Gordon
