My Favourite Dish

MY FAVOURITE DISH

I met her some twenty years ago
Underneath a September moon's glow
We talked later on the phone
And soon two hours time was gone

We set a date for Friday night
I prayed that all would be just right
As we listened to “Unchained Melody”
I knew she was the one for me

The years together have been so good
I never doubted that they would
God has granted my fondest wish
And now my wife is my favourite dish

Thank you so much, Line. She was a jewel but the Lord wanted her to be with Him so He called her Home on November 3, 2014. I do miss her.

Man, I never thought the Righteous Brothers could cause a man to want to get married, but between them, the September moon, and Ruth's good looks, I just could not help myself.

Murray: I'm from the "old school" where terms like that meant a great deal to our sweetheart or wife. I think we need to do it more often. Thanks for your support.

Thanks, Francine! I have been responding to nearly all comments in Soup Mail only to discover that not everyone checks their Soup Mail as frequently. I have been chastised for not commenting on other poets work without realizing that I should have been checking for newly posted poems. I promise to do better in the future.
