My Father's Kindly Eyes
My father's blue eyes continue seeing:
those many epic insights that he saw.
Even though he is no longer being,
his selfless kindness keeps inspiring awe.
In my dreams, his cosmic love long lives on:
though specks of stardust is all that we are.
We pass this kindness along with each dawn
by stirring strong passions that take us far.
In aging, his twinkle got yet brighter -
kindness for all life, the same as for man.
At dusk, this world looks a little lighter,
tiny glints in the vast, unknowable plan.
Peer deeply into your own father's eyes,
then try to see how his kindness survives.
