My Father's Kindly Eyes

My father's blue eyes continue seeing: those many epic insights that he saw. Even though he is no longer being, his selfless kindness keeps inspiring awe. In my dreams, his cosmic love long lives on: though specks of stardust is all that we are. We pass this kindness along with each dawn by stirring strong passions that take us far. In aging, his twinkle got yet brighter - kindness for all life, the same as for man. At dusk, this world looks a little lighter, tiny glints in the vast, unknowable plan. Peer deeply into your own father's eyes, then try to see how his kindness survives. 106 words Sonnet 6/24

Greg, I've just happened upon this wonderful sonnet today. I guess with so many poems posted at the Soup, beautiful poems like this get easily buried under those that are churned out daily just for numbers sake. It's a shame this hasn't had more comments because it deserves so many more.. It has that element of 're-readability' by the bucketload. :) Just brilliant. Cheers - Gary

I so appreciate your critique on this Gary. Your comments are validating and we, as poets, need that support, fragile souls that we are. Thank you, I will be adding shortly an illustration that you might enjoy also. Be well dear bard.

Oh, Greg, what a beautiful and tender sonnet for your father. I especially love the imagery and the last couplet - "peer deeply into your own father's eyes, then try to see how his kindness survives." A wonderful, spiritual metaphor of poetic depth operating on several levels. I also love the way your father's kindness is his legacy. So important to remember especially now! Blessings to you. So wonderful to see you posting again! Blessings!
