My Father
I wish I could have known you
I wish you were still here
My life has been so lonely
Even when everyone is near
I have lived my life as best as I can
But there will always be an emptiness within me
I have tried to fill it with happiness and dreams
And I imagine what you could be
Someone who will understand
Who will always be there
A father for whom I could love
And who would love me for who I am
I wish I could have known you
I wish you could be here with me
