My Epitaph Will Read...

Here lies Deadline Devonshire, tardiness she did abhor Her editor will tell you, "She was never late before" Her sister laid claim to the gene pool’s beauty and brains Carolyn took credit for writing verse that’s inane Believed in reincarnation; wasn't Cleopatra She merely adopted "been there, done that" as her mantra She was the first to acknowledge her imperfection But writing her own epitaph? Too much self-reflection!

Hey Carolyn, I really like this! I've been fascinated with walking through old cemeteries and reading the epitaphs. The markers can also be quite interesting. I've been thinking about a couple of poems on these subjects, but haven't brought anything together yet. Elton Camp

Hi Carolyn. He He. I giggled at this and loved the way you said your piece and then distanced yourself from it, ' But writing her own epitaph? Too much self-reflection'. Brought to mind another epitaph which I loved. 'I told you that I was Ill'. Thanking you again, Eamon

I agree, Carolyn....writing one's own epitaph, means too much self reflection!! I will leave it up to someone else!! Congratulations on your win, and this clever entry! ~ Carrie

I could think of many many beautiful words to write Carolyn. But I would need the length of a pavement to etch them all. A beautiful distant friend you are, not just to me but to so many on the Soup. You are indeed a GEM in my Highlander eyes > good luck in the contest >> James ;)
